Important instructions on using WeChat and VooV Meeting to connect and communicate effectively with students from China.
Students in China cannot access Google services, including Google Meet and Google Docs. For this reason, alternative platforms must be used for lessons and communication.
1. WeChat - the most popular video chat app.
If both you and the student use the desktop version, you will be able to share the screen (which is important if you want to share the materials).
If the student is using the mobile version, screen sharing will NOT work.
2. VooV Meeting (Tencent Meeting)
Screen Sharing: High-quality and supports sharing specific windows or the entire desktop.
Accessibility: It is free to download globally. Your student in China uses the Chinese version (Tencent Meeting), and you use the international version (VooV). They connect seamlessly.
VooV Meeting is available on macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android.
